During the ceremony, Yang Zhi, Dean of the School of Management, and Yan Tingting delivered opening speeches. Yang Zhi pointed out that the School has always attached significance to research related to supply chain management and is committed to addressing industry-specific issues and serving society. In March of last year, the Journal of Supply Chain Management Hybrid Symposium (Asia-Pacific Hybrid Virtual Symposium) was successfully held at the School, attracting more than 700 scholars and researchers from over 30 countries and regions to participate and exchange ideas. The School is very delighted to continue hosting this year’s conference.
Yan Tingting shared her delight about attending the workshop in person. This year’s workshop received several high-quality papers and invited many notable scholars and top editors from leading research publications to assess them. Throughout the commentary session, they engaged in face-to-face interactions with participants.
The workshop has four sessions. On the morning of June 16th, there were two open expert discussions by Yan Tingting and Li Antai, Director of International Affairs Office and faculty member of Department of Finance and Economics. During the discussions, sixteen renowned empirical researchers in supply chain management from the United States, Australia, Hong Kong SAR, and the Chinese mainland, as well as editors from well-known research journals, met with participants to discuss “How to Make Theoretical Contributions” and “Writing Techniques for Top Empirical Supply Chain Management Journals.” The focus was on issues about publishing in top-tier international operations and supply chain journals, with the goal of assisting aspiring academicians in the Asia-Pacific area in better understanding how to prepare submissions to international journals.
On the afternoon of June 16th, there were group commentary sessions with a total of four parallel sessions. Participants whose works have been accepted will present their papers on-site, followed by face-to-face critiques from experienced empirical research experts in supply chain management. The discussions in each parallel session were lively, fostering a strong academic atmosphere.
After the conference, Hu Yanhua, Chair of the Board, delivered the closing speech and, together with Yan Tingting, presented certificates and written feedback to participants whose submissions were accepted.
The workshop facilitated in-depth exchanges in empirical research on supply chain management, strengthened research capabilities in this field, and further expanded the academic influence of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
