Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability are significant to higher education, and the School of Management insists on fulfilling social responsibilities, leveraging the School’s characteristics in science and business integration, and taking the initiative to pay attention to social issues and take action. We enthusiastically participate in social practices and public welfare activities, giving back to society and spreading positive energy. At the same time, we actively ponder harmonious development in the economy, society, and environment, and vigorously promote sustainable lifestyles to the public through diverse approaches.
² Undergraduate Initiatives:
ü Volunteer Teaching: The AFK (All for Kids) volunteer teaching team is setting sail again— from correspondence to offline research, from moral support to knowledge imparting and material assistance. The AFK team has witnessed the economic development and educational improvement in rural area, as well as the passing down of the spirit of volunteering from generation to generation.
ü Volunteer Service: The "One for All" computer service team, founded in 2007, provides computer maintenance, graphic art, IT consulting, and other technical support services. This student group has consistently helped teachers and students resolve technical issues, offering public computer maintenance services and fostering a supportive community environment.
² MPAcc and MEM Initiatives:
ü Achievements in the First China Engineering Management Case Competition: On September 25, 2021, a team led by Li Qi, a 2019 MEM student from our university, won second place in the Central China/Northwest Regional Qualifying Competition and advanced to the national finals. Their case analysis report on the Huxi River comprehensive governance project received unanimous praise from the judges.
ü Huxi River Comprehensive Governance Project: The Huxi River governance project, jointly funded by the city and the university with an investment of 713 million yuan, employed a whole-process engineering consulting (management) approach. This project successfully addressed river pollution and waterlogging issues while enhancing the landscape. In 2020, it was awarded first place in the "Hubei Province Happy River and Lake Demonstration."
ü MPAcc Alumni Support Anti-Pandemic Efforts: Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, MPAcc alumni worked in hospitals as financial personnel, supporting the fight against the epidemic by coordinating donations, organizing medical supplies, handling medical insurance for patients, and implementing subsidy policies for medical staff.
ü "Medical Staff Care Hotels in the Fight Against the Epidemic" Initiative: The MPAcc Alumni Association launched the "Medical Staff Care Hotels in the Fight Against the Epidemic" initiative, providing convenient accommodation for medical workers. This initiative received support from alumni associations in various cities.
ü "Have You Sent It?" Love Volunteer Team Activity: During campus lockdowns, Zhang Haomiao, the class monitor of the 2021 MPAcc class, led a team to establish a material distribution group and a shared mutual assistance document. This initiative helped students acquire essential supplies and meet their research needs by coordinating delivery and updating the status in real-time.
² MBA Initiatives: MBA students and faculty have actively embraced social responsibility through targeted philanthropic initiatives. In 2020, they responded swiftly to the COVID-19 pandemic by raising funds and medical supplies and contributing to the construction of Huoshenshan Hospital. In 2021, they provided substantial support for Henan's flood relief efforts, and in 2022, they procured essential supplies for Xi'an during the COVID-19 outbreak.
In 2023, they focused on enhancing rural education by donating educational and daily necessities to various villages and schools. Additionally, MBA students engaged in environmental conservation activities, cleaning parks and beaches to promote sustainability and ecological health. Their commitment to social welfare continued with a public emergency rescue training program in partnership with the Hubei Red Cross Society and other universities, aiming to build a healthy campus community. These actions reflect the MBA community's dedication to applying their managerial skills for societal benefit and positive change.
² EMBA Initiatives:HUST-EMBA’s faculty, alumni, and students are actively involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors, showcasing their dedication to social welfare and rural development. Notable activities include substantial donations and strategic cooperation with Xiaochang County to aid Bashi Village's poverty alleviation efforts. The "IPASON Electronic Reading Room" was established to improve educational access. In response to severe floods in Henan Province, they organized relief support, demonstrating quick responsiveness to crises.
Other contributions include the "HUST-EMBA Inspirational Award Scholarship" for academically distinguished students and the "Three Gifts" initiative in Donghe Village, which focuses on care, skill-sharing, and cultural enrichment. They also support agricultural consumption and provide encouragement scholarships to students. Creative competitions like the "Beautiful Donghe" event celebrate community spirit and promote positive social values. The "Children Harbor, Warm Companionship" activity and an investigation mission to Donghe Village highlight their commitment to rural revitalization.
These combined efforts reflect the School's dedication to leveraging its strengths for societal benefit and positive change, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to ethics, responsibility, and sustainability across various programs and initiatives.
