  • 1958

    HUST established the Teaching and Research Office of Engineering Economics

  • 1979

    ​Established Department of Engineering Economics, the predecessor of the School of Management

  • 1980

    First undergraduate major - Material Management Engineering (the precursor of the Logistics Management major ) began to recruit students

  • 1981

    Authorized to confer master's degree in Management Engineering (later renamed as Management Science and Engineering)

  • 1982

    Industrial Management Engineering (predecessor of Business Administration) began to recruit students

  • 1987

    Undergraduate major in Management Information Systems began to recruit students

  • 1990

    Authorized to confer doctoral degree in Management Engineering (later renamed as Management Science and Engineering)

  • 1998

    Renamed as the School of Management

  • 1999

    Opened its undergraduate major in Marketing; won the "University Leadership Award" from CASA/SME for the outstanding achievements in the research of 863/SSCI

  • 2001

    Established a post-doctoral research station in Management Science and Engineering

  • 2002

    Established the Anheuser-Busch Library of the School; launched the EMBA programme and became one of the first batch of business schools to officially launch an EMBA programme in Chinese Mainland

  • 2004

    Began to publish the Chinese Journal of Management

  • 2005

    Authorized to confer doctoral degree in Business Administration

  • 2007

    Established a post-doctoral research station in Business Administration; new School building put into use; first-level discipline of Management Science and Engineering rated as a national key discipline

  • 2010

    Authorizes to grant MPAcc degree; Human Resource Management was approved as a National Excellent Course

  • 2012

    Obtained AMBA accreditation

  • 2017

    Discipline of Business Administration rated A- in the 4 round of the China Discipline Ranking; Discipline of Management Science and Engineering ranked 2 in Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in China

  • 2019

    Disciplines of Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration ranked 2 in Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in China

  • 2020

    Obtained AACSB accreditation

  • 2021

    Disciplines of Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration rated A in Times Higher Education, World University Rankings, China Subject Rating

  • 2022

    Obtained EQUIS accreditation eligibility. Successfully joined the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) and became an official member

    Successfully applied for two undergraduate programs: Big Data Management and Applications, and Computational Finance. The school underwent departmental restructuring, transitioning from the original seven departments to eight departments
