Dec 1, 2023

From November 29th to December 1st, the 2023 AACSB Asia-Pacific Annual Conference was held in Osaka, Japan, with Li Jianbin, the Vice Dean of the School of Management, invited to attend.

More than 300 deans and scholars from more than 100 business schools in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world attended the conference. The guests were engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as artificial intelligence, rethinking business school models, driving positive social impact through business schools, international collaboration, as well as interdisciplinary exploration, student diversity, curriculum design, and enhancing teaching capabilities in business education.

Meanwhile, the conference featured a dedicated session for accreditation Q&A, where case studies and clarifications were provided on the 2020 AACSB accreditation standards and process.

Li Jianbin had positive discussions with AACSB President and CEO Lily Bi, as well as East Asia Regional Head Xu Guodong, regarding the School’s preparation for AACSB re-accreditation. They also extended an invitation to Geoff Perry, AACSB Executive Vice President, Global Chief Membership Officer, and Asia-Pacific Chief Executive, to visit the school for guidance at an appropriate time.

During exchanges with members of the AACSB re-accreditation expert group and Dean Luo Naiwei from the Taiwan University of Science and Technology School of Management, Li offered an overview of the School’s discipline development, faculty team, and teaching quality, and received valuable experiences and suggestions for the accreditation process.

Furthermore, Li engaged in extensive discussions with representatives from outstanding business schools in the Asia-Pacific region, exploring international cooperation opportunities.

The school obtained AACSB accreditation for the first time in 2020 with a maximum period of 5 years and is set to undergo re-accreditation at the end of 2024. Through the exchanges during this conference, the School established a good relationship with AACSB leaders and members of the expert group and deepened the understanding of the accreditation process and standards. This has laid a solid foundation for successfully passing re-accreditation.
