In 2023, our School of Management journeyed through a year of hard work and remarkable achievements. Here are the top ten highlights that we've selected to share with you:
Dean Yang Featured in a Special Interview with People's Daily Online
The working report of the 20th National Congress of CPC has mentioned strategies for invigorating China through science and education and enhancing modernization for talent cultivation. The report made a thorough plan for integrating education, science and technology, and talent cultivation to service the construction of an innovative country, which is the responsibility and also the mission of higher education in the new development stage. The People’s Daily held a special interview with Dean Zhi Yang. He mentioned that the school will create management education with the feature of integrating management and science so as to meet the lofty demands of our country.
Leaders From the School Visited European Universities for Exchange and Cooperation
From March 26th to April 4th, the Dean of SoM, Zhi Yang; Vice Dean for Professional Degree Graduate Studies, Xin Dai; Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Jianbin Li; and Director of the Office for International Affairs, Antai Li, visited Paris-Saclay University, the Technical University of Munich, and Queen Mary University of London. They also paid visits to the School of SKEMA, the IESEG School of Management, and the University of Manchester. This visit expands the “friend circle” in Europe, consolidates our friendship and partnership, and improves the international influence of our school.
Two New Undergraduate Programs Added to the SoM
Recently, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China released the 2022 accreditation and approval results for undergraduate programs offered by regular higher education institutions (HEIs). Our school successfully applied for two undergraduate programs: Big Data Management and Application and Computational Finance.
The school won four awards for outstanding achievements in social sciences
In 2022, several achievements were honored with provincial and municipal awards for outstanding social science achievements. These include one second prize and two third prizes at the 13th Hubei Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, as well as one first prize at the 18th Wuhan Municipal Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards. Additionally, our school collaborated with sister institutions to complete four achievements, each of which received three second prizes and one third prize at the provincial level.
One Undergraduate Program has Been Selected as The National First-Class
The Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education officially released the “Announcement on the Results of the Second Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses” and the “Enterprise Strategy and Risk Management” developed and taught by the team of Professor Yuanqiong. He was approved for a national first-class online course.
Three Professors were listed in Best Scientists in Research. com
On April 4th, one of the world's leading websites for academic research, Research.com, published the leading scientists from different fields in 2023. Three professors from the school were selected. Among them, Professor Yaobin Lu was selected in the list of “Best Business and Management Scientists,” and Professor Lin Wang and Yukun Bao were selected as “Best Scientists in Computer Science.”
The School held Educational Tour in Zunyi
From July 4th to 6th, the school organized an educational tour for CPC members to visit Zunyi, aiming to revisit and reflect upon the region's significant historical events. More than 80 people, including members of the school’s party and leadership team, faculty, active applicants for party membership, representatives of democratic parties and non-party members, representatives of outstanding young teachers, and representatives of student branch secretaries.
11 Projects have been Approved by the NSFC
On August 24th, 11 projects from our school were successfully approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Among them, there are 2 National Outstanding Youth Science Fund projects, 4 General Program projects, and 5 Young Scientist Fund projects.
The School Held Opening Ceremony for New Students
Below Yujia Mountain and along the shore of Donghu Lake, with the refreshing autumn breeze and golden buttonwood trees, on September 21st, the School of Management held the opening ceremony and the first class for the 2023 undergraduate and postgraduate freshmen. In this ceremony full of solemnity, they embarked on a new chapter of realizing their dreams in HUST and in management.
The School Held 2024 New Year’s Gala “The Sound of Spring”
On December 28th, the school held the 2024 New Year’s Gala, “The Sound of Spring.” As the new year begins, we eagerly anticipate the year ahead, pooling our hearts and efforts to build a new chapter of excellence. Everyone gathered together at the gala, adorning the melodies of youth with songs and painting the picture of dreamscape with dances.
