Virtual Teaching and Research Office Selected as the First Batch of Pilot Virtual Teaching and Research Offices by Ministry of Education
Professor Liu Zhixue's the Virtual Teaching and Research Office, has been successfully selected by the Ministry of Education as one of the first batch of pilot programs.
This project aims to integrate and share high-quality teaching resources in logistics management between centrally-affiliated and local colleges and universities. It will jointly guide teaching research and practice, vigorously promote the revitalization of higher education in the central and western regions, and effectively facilitate the implementation of the major national strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Four Courses from SoM Firstly Entered in SEC
In April 2022, four excellent open online courses from SoM firstly entered Smart Education of China for global learners, ranked at the foremost in the liberal arts in HUST, and made great contributions to education.
Under the deployment of the university, SoM always attaches great importance to the construction of open online courses. SoM has proactively advanced the in-depth integration of modern information technology with education, robustly improved the level of informalization in education, and motivated educational reform. So far, SoM has boasted of one national-level and one provincial-level first-class online course.
Five Professors Selected as Elsevier’s 2022 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers”
On April 14, 2022, Elsevier officially released its 2021 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers." Compared to last year, our university has made noticeable progress, ranking sixth in the Chinese Mainland's universities. There were 101 professors listed, among whom Lu Yaobin, Li Zhichun, BaoYukun, Deng Zhaohua, and Zhao Ling from SoM were once again selected in the list of management science and engineering.
All Undergraduate Majors of SoM Selected as First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites
In June 2022, the Ministry of Education officially published the lists of National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Points for 2021. In 2021, SoM had two new undergraduate program construction points, among which accounting was national-level and financial management was provincial-level. From 2019 to 2021, all undergraduate programs have been listed as First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Points.
By lending this opportunity and following the student-centered educational philosophy, SoM will further develop a good plan for undergraduate programs, deepen the comprehensive reform project-based course groups, and enhance the uniqueness of different programs to consolidate and complete the talent cultivation system that meets the national strategic demand of “Management+.”
Business Administration and Management Ranked No.1 and No.3 Respectively in Chinese Mainland
In the ShanghaiRanking’ s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Business Administration and Management ranked the first and the third respectively in Chinese Mainland.
Professor Zhou Erhua Won the Third Prize in National Teaching and Innovation Contest
On July 31, 2022, Professor Zhou Erhua from SoM led the “Human Resource Management” course to win the third prize in the Second National Teaching and Innovation Contest.
Professor Zhou Erhua’s team went through various stages of selection, and finally achieved the special prize representing Hubei Province and the school in the national competition. The team’s competing course, “Human Resource Management,” innovated in concepts, upgraded objectives, restructured content, introduced innovative methods, integrated ideological and political elements, and optimized teaching evaluations.
During the preparation process, departments such as the Undergraduate Sector and the Teacher Development Center actively coordinated and organized. SoM also attached great importance and provided strong support, with all departments sparing no effort to support and cooperate.
13 Projects Funded by NSFC, Provincial or Ministerial-level Departments Have Been Approved
SoM‘s 11 projects have been successfully funded by NSFC. Among them, there was one Key Project, four General Projects, 5 Youth Projects and one International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange project.
Meanwhile, SoM recently received approval for one project from the Ministry of Science and Technology’s High-End Foreign Expert Project, and one Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Talent and Service Special Soft Science Research Project.
Chinese Journal of Management and FEM have been Selected in “Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals” and “Outstanding Academic Journals with International Influence in China” Respectively
Chinese Journal of Management was selected as one of the “2022 Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals” (Humanities and Social Sciences), ranking 30th among 80 journals. Frontiers of Engineering Management was selected as one of the “2022 Outstanding Academic Journals with International Influence in China” (Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology), ranking 44th among 175 journals.
The School Won the Gold Award in the 2022/23 Global Business School Excellence Awards
On December 9, 2022, the 2022/23 Global Business School Excellence Awards ceremony, hosted by the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (AMBA & BGA), concluded. Ming Jinlong , an MBA alumnus from the school, was the MBA Entrepreneur of the Year.
The 2022/23 AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards featured ten categories, with worldwide business schools accredited by AMBA and BGA eligible for nomination. The International Affairs Office of the school actively coordinated the application process, accurately grasped the criteria for each award, meticulously revised the application materials, and provided careful guidance for the interviews.
After more than three months of rigorous review by an expert panel, Ming Jinlong won the gold award for outstanding innovative business strategies and entrepreneurial spirit. This marks SoM’s first gold award in the Global Business School Excellence Awards.
Four National-level Majors and Key Projects in the Department of Business Administration have been approved
In 2022, the Department of Business Administration received funding for four national-level majors and key projects. These include one NSFC key project, two NSSFC major projects, and one NSFC key special project.
The department covers three fields: strategy management, marketing management, and human resource management. It also has two national-level undergraduate programs: Marketing Management + Business Administration (Human Resource Management Direction).
