COURSE PREREQUISISTE:
ACCT 220 (or ACCT 200); MATH 103 or a higher-level mathematics course with a grade of "C" or higher. If you are unsure about whether you satisfy the prerequisites, see an advisor in the College of Business & Economics. The computer will check these prerequisites about two weeks into the semester. If you do not have the prerequisites, it will be at that time that you will be dropped automatically from the class, and it may be too late to register for another class.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In ACCT 230 we present an analysis and evaluation of accounting information as part of the managerial process of planning, controlling, and decision-making. We concentrate on the types of economic decision making in enterprises and on accounting information that is useful to enterprise managers to make economic decisions. It is expected that basic accounting knowledge presented in an introductory financial accounting class is understood.
The course objective is that upon course completion, students will understand how managers use accounting information to make sound economic decisions to maximize firm value. The course includes corporate visits in China, exploration of practical corporate issues, and case analysis.
It helps to apply knowledge to solve practical problems. During the case analysis process, students will have the opportunity to participate in case discussions with Chinese students, allowing students to gain cross-cultural and cross-cultural learning experience.
