EQUIS Accreditation Peer Review Visit for the School of Management by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)

From October 22-24, EQUIS international accreditation experts from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) conducted a three-day Equis Accreditation Peer Review Visit(PRV) for the School of Management, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Led by Prof. Marie Wilson, former Vice Chancellor of the University of South Australia, the accreditation PRT consisted of Metka Tekavčič, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Alliance of Chinese and European Business Schools and former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Prof. Wang Zhaohua, Dean of the School of Economics of the Beijing Institute of Technology, and Bruno J. Steinberg, Managing Partner of People Organization Culture (POC), Switzerland.

On the morning of October 22, the PRV had its first meeting with the leadership team of the School of Management at Wutongyu Academic Exchange Center. Hu Yanhua, Chair of the School Board of the School of Management, welcomed the arrival of the experts on behalf of the school and delivered a welcoming speech. Yang Zhi, Dean of the school, introduced the basic information of its development. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on the strategic planning of the school, the development of academic disciplines, the construction of faculty, the cultivation of talents, and the social responsibility of the school.


Prof. Feng Dan, Vice President of HUST, accompanied by Prof. Wen Jinyu, Assistant President and Dean of Undergraduate School, and Prof. Zhu Jintao, Dean of Graduate School, met with the PRT. Prof. Marie Wilson expressed her gratitude to HUST for the warm reception and asked Prof. Feng about the future development strategy of the School of Management. President Feng said that the university will continue to favor the School of Management in terms of faculty training and talent cultivation. Under the university's policy of cross-disciplinary talent cultivation, the university will support the School of Management to establish a path of “science and technology business school”.


The Accreditation PRT conducted 14 seminars with representatives of school’s programs, administrative departments, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and industry partners to comprehensively examine and assess the school's degree programs, executive education, faculty management, research and discipline construction, internationalization construction, financial management, student and alumni services, and connection with the industry. In addition, the group visited Anheuser-Busch library, smart classrooms, lab centers, and other facilities in our school.

On the morning of October 24, the Accreditation PRT gave feedback to the School. Professor Marie Wilson, the chair of the PRT, gave the full affirmation to the good reputation enjoyed by our school, the high quality of our faculty, students and alumni, the rigorous teaching management and processes, and the first-class school facilities and environment. During the process of the peer review visit, the accreditation team was impressed by the good spirit of the university and our school leaders, the representatives of the faculty, students, alumni and enterprises, who were positive and pursuing excellence. The leadership team of the school listened carefully to the feedback from the accreditation experts. Dean Yang Zhi expressed his sincere thanks to the PRT for their pertinent comments and valuable guidance, and said that the school will continue to enhance the level of governance, improve the quality of education and teaching, expand international influence, and promote the school's high-quality development.
