The "Ministry of Education (Science and Technology Commission)Research Centre for CMI S&T Innovation Strategy" relies on the comprehensive discipline system of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, works closely with relevant scientific research institutions, leverages the advantages of industrial clusters in the central region, and gathers high-level talent resources to contribute scientific and technological consulting services and decision-making support to the construction of science and technology innovation systems and capacities.
The centre focuses on four major areas: the operation of strategic S&T institutions, technological innovation and future industrial development, S&T talent strategy, and S&T security and governance. Based on the high-quality conditions provided by the five advantageous disciplines in HUST (public administration, business administration, artificial intelligence, and optoelectronic information), the centre conducts high-level think tank research and service work through research exchanges, project research, policy reports, and decision-making consulting in deep collaboration with national laboratories, national scientific research institutions, and leading technology companies.
There are more than 40 core researchers working in this centre and paying attention to academic, consulting, and practical work, covering the five disciplines of scientific and technological information, technological innovation, industrial economy, scientific and technological policy, and technological governance. It has developed two major AI R&D platforms with independent intellectual property rights, the scientific and technological information system "Zhiyan" and the intelligent technology foresight analysis system "Liaowang." It has produced a large number of high-level decision-making consulting and scientific and technological information achievements for national competent departments, provincial, municipal, local, and national key enterprises and institutions, and has established the academic exchange platform "Daoxianghu Think Tank," which enjoys a wide reputation in the industry, to serve national scientific and technological innovation related information.
In the future, the centre will take the multi-disciplinary integration and high-level talent cultivation of universities as the basic conditions, give full play to the unique talent advantages of universities, and explore new modes of efficient and organized scientific research, high-quality disciplinary integration-centred scientific research innovation, and high-level integrated talent cultivation through forming good cooperation with various scientific research institutions and enterprises.
