On May 26, 2025, the school has been awarded EQUIS international accreditation with a five-year validity period From the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). With this achievement, the school has become the triple accredited management school with all three prestigious international accreditations—EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA.
The EQUIS Accreditation Committee highly commended the school’s overall strengths, especially the school’s outstanding performance in "intellectual leadership bridging academia and practice," noting the innovation and applicability of its research as well as the deep integration of management disciplines with technology as key strengths in the accreditation review. The committee extended its congratulations to all faculty and staff for their dedication and remarked that the school’s development experience offers a valuable case study for global management education. Thomas Froehlicher, the EQUIS accreditation advisor for the school, stated in a congratulatory letter: "Congratulations to SOM! My best wishes to the Dean and the whole team! I wasn't worried about you, but to have Equis for 5 years is really a very positive signal and very, very rare for a first Equis accreditation. You really are among the best of the best in China, and therefore worldwide”.
As one of the most influential international accreditations for management and business education, EQUIS is renowned for its rigorous evaluation standards and process. SOM formally initiated its EQUIS accreditation efforts in 2021, obtained eligibility in March 2023, and hosted an on-site evaluation by the review panel in October 2024. After a stringent assessment across ten key areas—including strategic governance, programs, students, faculty, research and development, executive education, resources and administration, internationalization, ethics and sustainability, and corporate engagement—the EQUIS Accreditation Committee voted to grant the school its first EQUIS accreditation with the maximum five-year validity.
Achieving the triple accreditation is a significant milestone in the SOM’s pathway to becoming a globally renowned management school. The school will further pay continous efforts to enhance the internationalization and the education quality.
